Good

Verbatim's not a name you usually associate with music on the move, but its latest entry into the MP3 player space has something which many of the established brand names don't - expandability. The 256MB Verbatim MP3 player features a slot (SD and MMC compatible) which can be used for extra music capacity. And with SD cards now as hefty as 2GB, that's a lot of music for a relatively cheap MP3 player.

The Verbatim MP3 player connects to a PC via USB 2.0, and runs on a single AAA battery. Other features include an FM radio, voice recorder and togel online six preset equaliser modes. The player is compatible with MP3, WMA and WAV files.

Bad

The ability to add more memory is great, but large capacity memory cards aren't exactly cheap (high-end 2GB SD cards can go for up to AU$400). The Verbatim's in-built capacity is low at 256MB, and the cost to expand it via memory cards may end up being more prohibitive than just settling on a large capacity MP3 player in the first place.

Outlook

The low-end of the MP3 player market is already crowded, but Verbatim's expandability gives it an edge over other brands.
